The Police have arrested two men, both aged 22, for their suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery.

On 11 February 2016 at about 3.30am, an employee of a convenience kiosk located along Serangoon Road reported that two unknown men donning balaclavas and armed with a knife had robbed of cash amounting to $600 and 20 cartons of cigarettes before fleeing.

Upon receiving the report, officers from Central Division responded swiftly to the scene. They then spotted two suspicious men who fled upon seeing the Police. The officers gave chase and arrested one of the suspects. Through follow-up enquiries and investigations, the officers arrested the second suspect at Blk 520 Woodlands Drive 14 on the same day at about 2.30pm. Upon their arrests, cash, cartons of cigarettes, gloves, a balaclava and an assortment of weapons were recovered and seized as case exhibits.

The two suspects will be charged in the Court on 12 February 2016 with the offence of Armed Robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they face a jail term which not less than 3 years and not more than 14 years, and shall also be punished with caning with not less than 12 strokes.
