The Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft at Toa Payoh on 24 February 2016.

On 24 February 2016 at about 10 am, a 68-year-old woman reported that an unknown man had snatched her handbag and fled from the sheltered walkway at Blk 144 Lorong 2 Toa Payoh.

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Tanglin Division conducted extensive follow-up investigation and established the identity of the suspect. He was subsequently arrested in Toa Payoh at about 4.00 pm on the same day.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 26 February 2016 with an offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
