The Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of motor vehicle thefts along Bangkit Road and Chestnut Avenue.

 

On 12 April 2016 at about 7.43 am, a 40-year-old man reported that his lorry was stolen from Bangkit Road.  Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of Police Cameras (Polcams), officers from the Jurong Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Bangkit Road on 20 April 2016. He is also believed to be involved in another case of theft of motor vehicle reported at Chestnut Avenue on 15 April 2016 at about 8.57am.

 

The suspect will be charged in the State Court on 22 April 2016 with an offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years’ imprisonment and shall also be liable to a fine.
