The Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of break-in reported at a shop located at Teck Whye Lane.

 

On 30 April 2016 at about 4.30am, a shop owner reported his shop broken into and the interior ransacked. Valuables including powerbanks and mobile phones were missing from the premise.

 

Following the report, officers from Jurong Division conducted extensive ground enquiries to establish the identity of the suspect. The suspect was subsequently arrested on 3 May 2016 at about 6 pm in the vicinity of Teck Whye Lane. Police also recovered the missing properties at the suspect’s residence.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 5 May 2016 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 14 years.

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

 

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks;

     

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and

     

  • Keep large sums of cash in banks.
