The Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft.

 

On 25 April 2016 at about 4.40 pm, a 56-year-old man reported that his motorcycle was stolen near Rochor Centre.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footage, officers from Central Division managed to trace the suspect and arrested him along French Road on 11 May 2016 at about 3.10pm.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 13 May 2016 with an offence of Theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1.  Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas ;

  2.  Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle;

  3.  Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; and

  4.  Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard.
