Stepped Up Enforcement Operation against Public Entertainment Outlets

The Police have conducted a series of enforcement operations between 13 May 2016 and 15 May 2016 at 36 public entertainment outlets located at Jalan Besar, Kitchener Road, Foch Road, Dalhousie Lane, Jalan Sultan, Beach Road, Middle Road, Duxton Road and New Bridge Road.

 

The operations led by officers from Central Division saw a total of 300 persons checked at these entertainment outlets. A total of 40 subjects aged between 19 and 52 were arrested for various criminal and employment related offences. Actions were also taken against 14 public entertainment outlets for infringing licensing conditions. Investigations are on-going.

  

These operations are part of Police’s on-going enforcement efforts against crime and licensing infringements at public entertainment outlets.  Between January and May 2016, the Police have also conducted enforcement operations against numerous errant operators of massage establishments in Chinatown, Bugis, Little India, Beach Road, Lavender Street, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Besar, North Bridge Road, South Bridge Road and Coleman Street.

 

Following Police investigations, 7 public entertainment outlet directors and their licensees, as well as 11 unlicensed/licensed massage parlour operators will be charged in Court on 18 May 2016 at 10.00 a.m. in Court 23 for offences relating to the Public Entertainment and Meeting Act and the Massage Establishments Act.
