The Police have arrested a 34-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman believed to be involved in a case of theft of motorcycle.

 

On 15 May 2016, Police received a report that a motorcycle was believed to have been stolen at Blk 616A Senja Road. On 16 May 2016, Police recovered the motorcycle at Senja Link. Through extensive ground enquires, officers from Jurong Division managed to identify the two suspects and arrested them at Senja Link on the same day at about 5.50pm.

 

The two suspects will be charged in the Court on 18 May 2016 with the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle with Common Intention, under Section 379A read-with Section 34, of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, both suspects face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;

  • Use additional locking devices on your motorcycles, such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle.
