The Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty on board a MRT train.

 

On 12 May 2016 at about 9.21pm, the Police were informed by a 24-year-old female victim that a man had outraged her modesty whilst she was travelling on the MRT from Raffles Place to Woodlands.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries, and with the assistance from the Public Transport Security Command (TRANSCOM), officers from the Jurong Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him in along Woodlands Avenue 4 on 24 May 2016 at about 8.20am. Investigations against the man are ongoing.

 

A person convicted of an offence of outrage of modesty under Sec 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 faces a penalty of imprisonment of up to 2 years, or with fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments.
