The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man who is believed to be involved in two cases of robbery reported along Hougang Avenue 7 and Jalan Sultan.
On 24 May 2016, a 27-year-old woman reported that she was robbed of her jewelleries and cash along Hougang Avenue 7. In another case, on 27 May 2016, a 31-year-old woman reported that she was robbed of her jewelleries, mobile phone and cash along Jalan Sultan. The suspect in both cases had similar description.
Officers from Tanglin Division conducted extensive ground enquiries to establish the suspect’s identity and subsequently arrested him along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 on 29 May 2016 at about 8.10 pm.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 31 May 2016 with the offence of Robbery under Section 392 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than 3 years and not more than 14 years and which shall also be punishable with caning of not less than 12 strokes.
