The Police have arrested two men, aged 16 and 21, for their suspected involvement in two cases of crimes of violence.

On 10 June 2016 at about 8.21am, the Police responded to a case of a male cyclist who was assaulted by an unknown man along Boon Lay Avenue. Two days later, Police responded to another case of a member of public being threatened by two men with a chopper on 12 June 2016 at about 12.15am at Block 180B Boon Lay Drive. Acting on the reports received, officers from Jurong Division carried out extensive enquiries and retrieved images from the Police Cameras (POLCAM). Their unyielding efforts finally paid off when they managed to establish the suspects’ identities and arrested them on 13 June 2016 at Block 191 Boon Lay Drive.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 21-year-old suspect was believed to have assaulted a 69-year-old male cyclist on 10 June 2016 along Boon Lay Avenue. The victim sustained facial injuries and was conveyed to the hospital on the same day. Investigations further revealed that the same 21-year-old suspect together with the 16-year-old suspect had threatened the member of public with a chopper on 12 June 2016 at Block 180B Boon Lay Drive.

The 21-year-old suspect will be charged in Court on 15 June 2016 whilst the investigation against the 16-year-old suspect is still on going.
