The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft along Orchard Road.

 

On 22 June 2016 at about 9.37am, a 32 year-old-woman reported that her mobile phone valued at about $800 had been stolen.. The victim had left her phone on a table while attending to a customer.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and follow up investigations, officers from Tanglin Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Orchard Road on the same day at about 12.14pm, less than three hours after the theft had been reported.

 

Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.

 

The Police would like to advise members of public to adopt the following crime prevention measures

  1. Secure  belongings and not leave them lying around visible in a public area where it is accessible to anyone, even for a short while

  2. Stay vigilant at all times and safeguard  personal items
