The Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty committed on board a MRT train.

 

On 26 May 2016, a female victim reported to the Police that she was molested by an unknown man on board a train from Bishan MRT station towards Yio Chu Kang MRT station. 

 

Following the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division and Public Transport Security Command commenced investigations and conducted extensive ground enquiries. The identity of the suspect was established and he was subsequently arrested on 1 July 2016.

 

Investigations are on-going. Any person found guilty of the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, is liable for a jail term of up to 2 years, or with fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments, upon conviction.
