The Police have arrested a 30-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of robbery with hurt along Orchard Road.

 

On 1 July 2016 at about 6.21 am, a 38-year-old woman reported to the Police that she was robbed of her sling bag after being punched and kicked by a male customer at her workplace, a beauty salon located in Orchard.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Division managed to trace the suspect and arrested him at Raffles Place on 2 July 2016 at about 3.35 pm. Some of the victim’s personal belongings were also recovered from his possession following the arrest.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 4 July 2016 with an offence of Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term which may extend to not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years, and shall also be punished with caning of not less than 12 strokes.
