The Police have arrested a 48-year-old man in connection with the death of 31-year-old Cui Yajie.

 

On 14 July 2016, Police received a missing person report informing us that Cui Yajie had not reported for work since 12 July 2016. On 15 July 2016, a Police news release was issued appealing for information on the whereabouts of Cui Yajie who was last seen at Fusionopolis Walk on 11 July 2016 at about 9.15pm.

 

As there were suspicious circumstances relating to the case, officers from Clementi Division worked closely with officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Police Intelligence Department to conduct investigative probes and enquiries. The officers’ intensive efforts paid off when they established the identity of a 48-year-old suspect who was subsequently arrested on 20 July 2016. 

 

On the same day, the suspect led Police to Lim Chu Kang Lane 8 where the remains, believed to be that of 31-year-old Cui Yajie, was discovered.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 21 July 2016 with the offence of Murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries the death penalty.
