The Police have arrested a 39 year-old man who is believed to be involved in two separate cases of Attempted Armed Robbery reported at Anchorvale and Rivervale, within 17 hours of reports lodged.

 

In the first case, the Police received a report on 3 August 2016 at about 1.30am from two female victims informing that a man armed with a knife had demanded for their money and mobile phone along Anchorvale Road. On the same day, at about 2.50am, a male victim reported to the Police regarding an attempted robbery which occurred along Rivervale Drive.

 

Upon receipt of the reports, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and investigative probes. The identity of the suspect was established and he was arrested along Rivervale Drive on 3 August 2016 at about 6.40 pm.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 5 August 2016 with the offence of Attempted Armed Robbery under Section 393 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years imprisonment and shall be liable to caning.
