The Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Aggravated Outrage of Modesty along Havelock Rd on 2 August 2016.
On 2 August 2016 at about 3.05 am, the 27-year-old female victim reported to the Police that a man had outraged her modesty while she was walking along Havelock Road. Officers from Central Division conducted extensive investigations, including the reviewing of CCTV footages to establish the identity of the suspect. The 37-year-old suspect was arrested at Chin Swee Road on 4 August 2016.
The suspect will be charged in Court with the offence of Aggravated Outrage of Modesty on 5 August 2016. Anyone convicted for the offence of Aggravated Outrage of Modesty under Section 354A(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, shall be punished with an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 10 years and with canning.
Members of the public are advised to stay vigilant of their surroundings and take the following precautions:

Be wary of strangers who approach you in crowded areas;

Stay close to your friends or move around in groups when in crowded places;

Be aware and alert of your surroundings. If someone stands exceptionally close to you, or if you suspect that you are being followed, remain calm and proceed to a crowded area or call the Police for assistance;

Avoid taking short-cuts through dark and deserted places. Keep to well-lit areas where there are more people and traffic;

Do not enter the lift with a stranger. Let the stranger take the lift and wait for the next one;

Where possible, do not nap whilst travelling on public transport;

When coming home late at night, get someone to escort you home; and
-
If you are molested, shout for help immediately or activate your shrill alarm. Call ‘999’ quickly.
