The Police Coast Guard (PCG) arrested 4 men, age between 16 and 23, for unlawful entry into Singapore on 5 August 2016.

On 5 August 2016 at about 10.30 am, PCG received information of 4 men, believed to be illegal immigrants, were onboard a barge towed by a foreign tugboat. PCG immediately deployed resources to locate and intercept the barge and tugboat.

At about 11.20 a.m., two PCG craft successfully intercepted the barge and tugboat at the sea off Punggol Timor within Singapore Territorial Waters. During a search onboard the barge, PCG found four men at the port bow. They were not in possession of any valid travel documents and were placed under arrest.

The four men will be charged in Court on 6 August 2016 with the offence of unlawful entry into Singapore under the Immigration Act (Chapter 133).
