The Police have arrested five men, aged between 17 and 41, for their suspected involvement in a rioting case reported at Beo Crescent.

On 7 August 2016 at about 11.10pm, a 26-year-old woman reported to the Police that her 30-year-old husband had been assaulted by a group of men at Beo Crescent. Through extensive ground enquiries and prompt investigative follow-up, officers from Tanglin Division established the identities of the suspects and swiftly arrested four of them at Beo Crescent within two hours of the report.

Following an operation mounted on the following day, the fifth suspect was arrested in Bukit Batok. Preliminary investigations revealed that the five suspects had assaulted the victim after a dispute earlier in the evening.

Police Investigations against all five suspects are ongoing. Any person who contravenes the offence of rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, are liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to caning.
