The Police have arrested a 30-year-old man believed to be involved in a case of Armed Robbery at Race Course Road.

 

On 10 August 2016 at about 4.20 p.m., Police received a report informing that a woman had been robbed. Investigations revealed that the suspect had threatened the victim using a knife and had taken away her valuables including cash amounting to $240 and two mobile phones.

 

Officers from Central Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and managed to establish the identity of the suspect.  An operation was then conducted and the suspect was arrested along Jalan Besar on 11 August 2016 at 2 a.m.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 12 August 2016 with the offence of Armed Robbery punishable under Section 392 and read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.  If convicted, he may face a jail term which may extend to not less than 2 years and not more than 10 years, and shall also be punished with caning with not less than 12 strokes.
