The Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of break-in reported at a HDB unit along Petir Rd.

 

On 10 August 2016 at about 1 pm, Police received a report where the victim informed that her handbag was stolen from her unit.

 

Following the report, officers from Jurong Division conducted extensive ground enquiries to establish the identity of the suspect and subsequently arrested him on 19 August 2016 at Buangkok Green.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 20 August 2016 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Day under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years.

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks;

     

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and

     

  • Keep large sums of cash in banks.
