Man Arrested within Five Hours for House Trespass and Attempted Robbery with Hurt

The Police have arrested a 63-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of house trespass and attempted robbery reported along Simei Street 1.

 

On 26 August 2016 at about 11.30am, a 29 year-old woman reported to the Police that someone had broken into her unit, assaulted her and attempted to rob her and her room mates at Blk 101 Simei Street 1. 

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and the aid of Police cameras (POLCAMs), officers from Bedok Division established the identity of the suspect swiftly and arrested him in less than five hours from the report, at about 4.10pm.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 29 August 2016 with the offences of House Trespass and Attempted Robbery with hurt under Section 451 and Section 394, of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 respectively. House Trespass carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 2 years and a fine. If convicted of Attempted Robbery With Hurt, the suspect faces an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and he shall also be punished with caning of not less than 12 strokes.
