The Police have arrested a 24-year-old man believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1.

 

On 24 August 2016 at about 4.00 am, the 21-year-old female victim reported that while she was returning home along the void deck of Blk 216 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, an unknown man came from her rear and snatched away her wallet that she was holding. The victim gave chase but lost sight of the suspect a few blocks away, before calling for the Police.

 

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and established the identity of the suspect who was subsequently arrested in the vicinity of Serangoon North Avenue 4 on 30 August 2016.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 1 September 2016 with an offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years imprisonment and shall also be liable to caning.
