The Police have arrested an 18-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft at Blk 238 Yishun Ring Road.
On 2 August 2016 at about 12.38 am, a 23-year-old woman reported that while she was at the void deck of Blk 238 Yishun Ring Road, an unknown man came from the rear and snatched away her handphone. The victim gave chase but eventually lost sight of the suspect. .
Upon receipt of the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and investigative probes. Their efforts paid off when they established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Blk 9 Haig Road on 31 August 2016 at about 8.00 pm.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 2 September 2016 with an offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than one year and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
