Mr Ronnie Lim Ah Bee asked about the effectiveness of the Police speed cameras (“Vehicles must keep to their different speed limits”, 8 September 2016).
The speed cameras used by the Traffic Police have enhanced speed detection capabilities. They are able to detect different types of vehicles exceeding their respective speed limits. They are also able to detect speeding across all lanes on the expressways or roads, including the left-most lanes. In addition, Traffic Police do not use a single type of camera, but a range of fixed, mobile and handheld speed cameras.
We thank Mr Lim for his feedback. We also urge all motorists to practise safe driving and stay within the speed limit.
