The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a motorcycle theft case. 

 

On 30 August 2016 at about 11.10am, a 47-year-old man reported that his motorcycle was stolen along Marina Boulevard.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Central and Jurong Division managed to ascertain the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Choa Chu Kang Avenue on 15 September 2016 at about 5.00 pm.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 17 September 2016 with an offence of Theft of a motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1.  Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  2.  Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle;

  3.  Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 

  4.  Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment.
