The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of robbery with hurt along River Valley Road.

 

On 14 October 2016 at about 3.19 am, a 23-year-old woman reported to the Police that she was robbed of her handbag containing her mobile phone and other valuables, after being assaulted by an unknown man when she was about to enter her apartment.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 on 14 October 2016 at about 10.45 am. The victim’s mobile phone was recovered from the suspect’s possession following the arrest.  

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 15 October 2016 with an offence of Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term which may extend to not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years, and shall also be punished with caning of not less than 12 strokes.
