The Police have arrested a 19-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in several cases of theft at fitness centres.

 

On 5 October 2016, a 29-year-old victim reported that cash amounting to S$420 and cash vouchers of unknown value kept inside a gym locker at a fitness centre were stolen.  

 

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations. The identity of the suspect was established and she was arrested on 11 October 2016. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be involved in other similar cases in Seng Kang and Thomson estates. Police investigations are ongoing.

 

If convicted, whoever commits theft in any building which is used for the custody of property, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
