The Firewalking Ceremony 2016 will be held from Sunday to Monday, 23 to 24 October 2016. The ceremony involves devotees walking from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple located along Serangoon Road, to Sri Mariamman Temple located along South Bridge Road. The devotees will then begin their firewalking ceremony within the compound of Sri Mariamman Temple.

 

To facilitate the event, the following roads and lanes will be closed to vehicular traffic during the stipulated date and timing:

3. Extreme left lane of the carriageway of Rangoon Road in the direction of Kent Road (between Serangoon Road and Tessensohn Road)

4. Birch Road (between Serangoon Road and Farrer Park Station Road)

5. Extreme right lane of Selegie Road in the direction of Serangoon Road (between Prinsep Street and Serangoon Road)

 

6. Extreme right lane of Prinsep Street in the direction of Selegie Road (between Bras Basah Road and Selegie Road)

From 3.00 pm on Sunday, 23 October 2016 to 7.00 am on Monday, 24 October 2016

7. Extreme right lane of Orchard Road (between Stamford Road and Prinsep Street)

8. Extreme right lane of Stamford Road (between Bencoolen Street and North Bridge Road)

9. Extreme right lane of North Bridge Road (between Stamford Road and South Bridge Road)

10. Extreme right lane of South Bridge Road (between North Bridge Road and Upper Pickering Street)

11. 2 right lanes of South Bridge Road (between Upper Pickering Street and Temple Street)

 

In addition, the following roads will see changes in vehicular traffic direction during the stipulated time period:

2. Mosque Street shall become a 2-way road

 

During the road closure, access will only be granted to police and emergency vehicles. 

 

Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.  Vehicles found parking and causing obstruction will be towed.
