The Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of a motorcycle.

 

On 1 September 2016, the victim reported that his motorcycle was stolen along Jurong West Central. Officers from Bedok Division and Jurong Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 2 November 2016 along Soon Lee Street.  The stolen motorcycle, with a false number plate, was recovered.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 3 November 2016 with the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspect will face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

 

The Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;

  • Use additional locking devices on your motorcycles, such as disc brake locks; and

  • Install an anti-theft alarm.
