 The Police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 22, for their suspected involvement in a case of Theft of Motor Vehicle Component Parts.

On 3 November 2016, a victim reported that some component parts were missing from his motorcycle that was parked at a carpark along Bukit Batok West Ave 5. Through extensive follow-up investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Jurong Division established the identity of the suspects and arrested them on 8 November 2016.

The 21-year-old suspect will be charged in Court on 10 November 2016 with an offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle or any component part thereof with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years and shall also be liable to a fine. Investigations against the 22-year-old suspect are ongoing.

The Police would like to advise motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  2. Install an anti-theft alarm;

  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; and

  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install suspension guard.

  5. Ensure that your vehicle has been secured properly and look around the vicinity for suspicious characters before leaving. If you see any suspicious characters, take note of their appearance, attire, height, or any other distinctive physical features and inform the Police for assistance. Do not confront them.
