Swift arrest of 22-year-old man involved in a case of Voluntarily Causing Hurt by Dangerous Weapon along Bedok Reservoir Road

The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for his involvement in a case of Voluntarily Causing Hurt by Dangerous Weapon along Bedok Reservoir Road.

 

On 13 November 2016 at 3.32am, the Police received a call informing that a 16-year-old victim was injured by an unknown male assailant over a staring incident. The victim sustained a deep cut on his right thumb and received immediate medical attention.

 

Upon receiving the report, officers from Bedok Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and managed to establish the identity of the suspect. On the same day, at about 7pm, the suspect was arrested at a carpark in the vicinity of Ubi Avenue 1. The Police also seized two parangs, one samurai sword and one knuckleduster.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 15 November 2016 with an offence Voluntarily Causing Hurt by Dangerous Weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, or with fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments and an offence of Possession of Scheduled Weapon under Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act, Chapter 65 punishable with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be punished with canning with not less than 6 strokes.
