Man Arrested for Involvement in a Scam using Compromised Credit Card Details

The Police have arrested a 22-year old man for his suspected involvement in a scam using compromised credit card details.

 

On 30 November 2016, Police received a report from a victim alleging that compromised credit card details were used to make online purchases of electronic items. Acting on the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive enquiries and investigations. The identity of the suspect was established and he was arrested along Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 on 6 December 2016. Preliminary investigations also revealed that the suspect is involved in other similar transactions.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 8 December 2016. Anyone found guilty of committing the offence of Abetment outside Singapore of an offence of Cheating committed in Singapore under Section 420 read with Section 108B of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, may be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
