The Police have arrested a 26-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of theft of motorcycle.

 

On 11 December 2016 at about 1.30pm, a 48-year-old man reported that his motorcycle was missing from the open car park at Block 701 Yishun Avenue 5.  

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of Police Cameras (POLCAM), officers from Ang Mo Kio Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on the 16 December 2016 at Block 701 Yishun Avenue 5.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on17 December 2016 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

a)    Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

b)    Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;

c)    Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 

d)    Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

e)    Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended
