The Police have arrested a 23-year-old Malaysian man in connection with the death of a 54-year-old woman at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal on 25 November 2016.

 

With strong co-operation and assistance from the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), the suspect was arrested in Malaysia on 18 December 2016, pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued by the State Courts in Singapore. The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Singapore Police Force on the evening of 19 December 2016. He will be charged in Court on 21 December 2016 with the offence of Murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries the death penalty.

 

Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (Covering), Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Sekher Warrier, said, “The Singapore Police Force (SPF) wishes to express our gratitude to the RMP for rendering their utmost support to this case, leading to the arrest of the murder suspect in Malaysia. The SPF will continue to work closely with our foreign law enforcement partners to bring such fugitives home to face justice.
