A 53-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of mobile phone.

 

On 20 December 2016 at about 3.30pm, the Police received a report regarding a case of theft of mobile phone along Blk 21 Rosewood Drive. It is believed that the man had stolen the victim's mobile phone and attempted to flee after being discovered. The incident attracted the attention of three public-spirited members of the public, Mr Benny Yeo, Mr Muhammad Nasir and Ms Nur Farahdillah, who then assisted to detain the man after a brief chase and handed him to the Police. The stolen mobile phone was also recovered.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 22 December 2016 with an offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum jail term of three years’ imprisonment, or a fine, or both.
