The Police have arrested a 21-year-old man who is believed to be involved in two cases of armed robbery reported along Bishan Street 14 and Braddell Road.

 

In the first case, the Police received a report on 29 November 2016 from a 64-year-old victim, informing that he had been robbed of his cash and mobile phone by a man armed with a sharp object, along Bishan Street 14. In the second case, on 1 December 2016, a 34-year-old male victim reported to the Police that he was robbed of his wallet containing some cash, along Braddell Road.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and investigations, officers from Tanglin Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 30 December 2016 at about 4.10pm at Blk 113 Jalan Bukit Merah.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 31 December 2016 with the offence of Armed Robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term which may extend to not less than 2 years and not more than 10 years, and shall also be punished with caning of not less than 12 strokes.
