The Police have arrested two women, aged 30 and 44, for their suspected involvement in the sale of counterfeit luxury goods.

On 19 January 2017, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted simultaneous raids at five retail shops in a shopping mall along Scotts Road, resulting in the arrests. During the operation, more than 900 pieces of trademark infringing goods such as footwear, apparels, bags, accessories, watches, pouches, wallets, belts, scarfs and labels, were seized. These goods had infringed the trademarks of various designer brands and are worth an estimated street value of about S$200,000.

Investigations against the suspects are ongoing.

The Police take a serious view against intellectual property right (IPR) infringements and will not hesitate to take action against perpetrators who showed blatant disregard for our IPR laws. Persons found guilty of selling or distributing goods with falsely applied trademark may be fined up to a maximum of $100,000, or an imprisonment term which may extend to five years, or both.
