The Singapore Police Force held the Graduation Parade of the 165th Intake Police National Service on Friday, 20 January 2017 at the Home Team Academy. This parade marks the end of the Basic Training Course for more than 630 trainees before they embark on the next journey in their NS life.
Mr Desmond Lee, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development and Deputy Leader of the House graced the event as the Reviewing Officer (RO) for the parade. Numerous prestigious awards namely, one PNS Statuette Award for the Overall Best Trainee and 19 Best Trainee Awards (awarded to each graduating squad) were given out during the parade. The RO also delivered a speech to the invited guests, graduating squads and their families.
The parade ended on a high note with the trainees singing to the Police National Service March. For the first time, the parents and guardians of the graduating trainees were invited to join the trainees at the Unity Square to receive a specially prepared ‘Thank You Card” from the trainees. These cards were all written personally by the individual trainees and they penned down their gratitude to their parents or guardians for supporting them through their special NS journey.
