The Police have arrested a 50-year-old man for his involvement in several cases of Mischief by Fire.

 

On 28 January 2017 at about 12.55am, the Police were alerted to a fire that had broken out in front of the central rubbish chute located at Blk 827 Tampines Street 81.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and follow up investigations, officers from Bedok Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within a day after the incident was reported. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 31 January 2017 with the offence of Mischief by Fire with intent to cause damage under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which is punishable on conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall be liable to fine.
