The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in of ‘Apple iPhone 7 Plus’ mobile phones sale scam.


Between 8 January 2017 and 9 January 2017, Police received reports from victims informing that the suspect had collected money from them on the pretext of selling them brand new ‘Apple iPhone 7 Plus’ mobile phones at discounted prices. However, after collecting the money, the suspect became uncontactable.

 

Upon receipt of the reports, officers from Tanglin Division conducted extensive investigations and established the identity of the suspect. He was arrested on 9 January 2017 at Clementi Division.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 11 February 2017 with an offence of Cheating, under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Any person found guilty of Cheating may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
