The Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of lurking house-trespass in order to commit theft at an office located along Hampshire Road.

On 6 August 2016 at about 7.40 am, the Police received a report informing that some cash, jewellery and mobile phones amounting to more than $6000 were found missing from the office. Through extensive investigations, officers from Central Division managed to establish the identities of the two male suspects aged 20 and 42. The 20-year-old suspect was arrested on 13 August 2016.

With the assistance of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), the 42-year-old suspect was arrested in Malaysia on 16 February 2017, pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued by the State Courts in Singapore. The suspect was subsequently handed over to Central Division on 17 February 2017. He will be charged in Court on 18 February 2017 with the offence of Lurking House-Trespass to Commit Theft with common intention under Section 454, read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspect is liable to an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

Commander of Central Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Arthur Law, expressed his appreciation to the RMP for their assistance in the arrest and said, “I would like to thank RMP for their strong support and assistance in arresting the suspect. The SPF will continue to work hand in hand with our counterparts from foreign law enforcement agencies to track down criminals and ensure that justice is served.”
