The Police have arrested two men aged 41 and 26, for their suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft at Sungei Kadut Industrial Estate.

 

On 10 February 2017, the owner reported that his car was stolen from his company at Sungei Kadut Street 1. Upon receiving the report, officers from Jurong Division carried out extensive investigations and with the aid of Polcams, established the identities of the suspects. On 20 February 2017, the two suspects were arrested along Hougang Ave 9. The stolen car was also recovered.

 

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 22 February 2017 with an offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, each faces a maximum jail term of 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

 

  • Engrave your vehicle registration number on the windscreens.

  • Install an alarm system.

  • Lock all the vehicle doors and wind up all windows.

  • Do not leave keys in the ignition switch.

  • Park in well-lit areas.
