The Police have arrested a 41- year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of theft of a motor vehicle.

 

On 26 February 2017 at about 3.00am, the Police received a report from a 63-year-old victim informing that his taxi that was parked along Jalan Besar had been stolen.  Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Central Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him arrested along Telok Blangah Drive on 27 February 2017 at about 6pm. 

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 1 March 2017 with an offence of theft of motor vehicle under Sec 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your vehicle in well-lit areas;

  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle;

  3. Remove the ignition key and lock the vehicle, whenever it is left unattended
