The Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman who is believed to be involved in a series of purchase scams.

Between January 2017 and February 2017, the Police have received several reports from victims who were purportedly cheated by a woman who claimed to be a freelance travel agent and was able to sell them air tickets at discounted prices. The woman did not deliver the air tickets after the payments were made by the victims.

Through extensive investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Division managed to establish the identity of the woman and arrested her along St. Michael’s Road on 28 February 2017.

Investigations against the suspect is ongoing. Anyone found guilty of the offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

The Police would like to advise members of the public to purchase air tickets from a licensed travel agent.
