The Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Housebreaking and Theft by night.
On 2 March 2017, the Police received a report of a break-in at a coffee-shop located at Clementi Avenue 2 and that $2,500 cash was reportedly stolen from the premises.
Through extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, Clementi Division officers established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Lorong 8 Geylang on the same day at 11.30 pm.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 4 March 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term which may extend to 14 years.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in unattended premises; and

Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
