The Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft of milk powder at supermarkets island-wide. 

 

On 6 March 2017, the Police received a report informing that 24 tins of milk powder had been stolen from a supermarket along Turf Club Road. Officers from Tanglin Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations and arrested the suspect along Sixth Avenue on 20 March 2017.  

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be involved in other cases of theft of milk powder reported at supermarkets islandwide. About 200 tins of milk powder with an estimated value of over S$10,000 were also seized from the suspect’s residence.

 

The suspect will be charged in court with Theft in Dwelling on 22 March 2017. Any person found guilty of Theft in Dwelling under section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
