The Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Housebreaking and Theft by Night.

 

On 24 March 2017 at about 10.50 am, the Police received a report of a break-in at a unit located at Stirling Road. Cash, assortment of jewelleries, watch and a handphone were stolen from the unit.        

 

Through extensive investigations and with the aid of Police Cameras, officers from Clementi Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Sengkang Square on 24 March 2017 at about 4.00 pm. All the stolen items were recovered from the suspect.

 

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had patronised the complainant’s food stall located along Jalan Bukit Merah and had stolen cash amounting to $300 and her handbag which was left inside the stall. The suspect is believed to have entered the complainant’s unit using the key which he found inside the handbag. 

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 25 March 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term which may extend to 14 years.
