On 16 April 2017 at about 4.13am, the Police received a call for assistance at 3E River Valley Road. A 31-year-old man was then conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and was subsequently pronounced dead at SGH on 19 April 2017 at about 9.58am.

 

Police responded swiftly to the incident and conducted extensive follow-up investigations.  A total of nine suspects, aged between 20 and 30, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Three suspects have already been charged in Court for the offence of Rioting with Deadly Weapon under Section 148 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to ten years and shall also be liable to be caning.

 

Three more suspects will be charged in Court on 21 April 2017 for the same offence. Investigations against the remaining three suspects are still ongoing.
