The Police have arrested a 49-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft.

 

On 20 April 2017 at 1.45 pm, a 56-year-old man reported that while he was at the void deck of Blk 170 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, an unknown man came from the rear and snatched away his handphone. The victim gave chase but eventually lost sight of the suspect.

 

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of footages from Police Cameras (POLCAMs), the identity of the suspect was established and he was arrested at Blk 116 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 on the same day.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 22 April 2017 with the offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than one year and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
