The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of vandalism cases that occurred in the Bugis area. 

 

On 24 April 2017, the Police received several reports of vandalism whereby graffiti were scrawled on the facades of National Design Centre, Fu Lu Shou Complex, The Prospex, OG Albert and Bugis+ Shopping Centre.

 

Officers from Central Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and follow up investigations. With the aid of CCTV images, the suspect was arrested along Hougang Ave 8 on 27 April 2017. A marker pen, a bicycle and some clothing were seized.


The man will be charged in Court on 29 April 2017 with the offence of Vandalism punishable under Section 3 of the Vandalism Act. If convicted, he is liable for
a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years, and shall also, subject to section 325(1) and 330(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cap 68), be punished with caning with not less than 3 strokes and not more than 8 strokes.
